Scope of this notice
This notice covers captain-marlin.uk only – the independent information portal you're reading now, not Captainmarlin itself or any account you might hold with that operator. We publish reviews and guides about Captainmarlin; we don't run its casino or sportsbook, and we never see your deposits, bets or withdrawals. Anything you do on the operator's own site is governed by its own privacy terms, not this one.
Below we set out, in plain terms, what data this portal gathers, why, and what choices you have over it under UK data protection law.
Categories of information we collect
We collect two broad types of data. The first is technical – things like your browser type, approximate location, device, and the pages you visit, gathered automatically through standard analytics and cookies (see our separate cookie policy for the detail). The second is anything you give us directly, such as your name and email address if you use our contact form.
- Technical and usage data collected passively as you browse
- Contact details you submit voluntarily, e.g. through a support enquiry
- Basic device and connection information used for security and performance
We do not collect financial information, gambling account details or identity documents – that data, if any exists, sits with the operator, not with us.
Lawful basis for processing
We rely on a mix of legitimate interests (running and improving the site, keeping it secure), consent (for non-essential analytics and marketing cookies, via the banner), and, where you contact us directly, the steps needed to answer your message. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting anything you've already done on the site.
Sharing your information
We use a small number of third-party tools – hosting, analytics, and occasionally advertising partners – to run captain-marlin.uk. These providers process data on our instruction and under their own confidentiality obligations. We never sell your personal data, and we don't pass it to Captainmarlin or any other operator; there is no commercial relationship of that kind between this portal and the brands it reviews.
Data may occasionally be transferred outside the UK where a provider is based elsewhere; where that happens, appropriate safeguards apply.
Your controls under UK GDPR
You have the right to access, correct, or ask us to erase your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. You can exercise any of these by emailing [email protected]; we aim to respond within 30 days as UK law requires.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, the UK's independent regulator for data protection.
How long we keep data
Contact-form submissions and any related correspondence are kept only as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards for our own records, then deleted. Technical and analytics data is retained on a rolling basis and periodically purged.
Protecting minors
captain-marlin.uk is intended for adults only. Access to this content – and to gambling content generally – is restricted to persons aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and if we become aware that we have, we'll delete it promptly. Parents sharing a device with a child may wish to use parental-control software such as Net Nanny or Qustodio alongside gambling-specific blocking tools.
Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or how the site operates. The current version applies from the date shown below; please check back periodically.
Questions about this policy, or about your data specifically, can be sent to [email protected] at any time.
